Resilience Centres to Launch in 54 More Communities Across Ukraine

21/03/2025

Ukraine’s network of Resilience Centres is expanding, with 54 more communities joining the Ministry of Social Policy’s flagship initiative. In the coming weeks, each of these communities will begin establishing barrier-free spaces where residents can access professional psychosocial support.

To date, 308 communities across 23 oblasts have joined the project, with 230 Resilience Centres already operational. The largest expansion is taking place in Volyn region, where 22 new Centres are set to open, followed by growing numbers in Ternopil and Cherkasy regions. The goal is to ensure that even more Ukrainians can receive high-quality support close to home.

“Community resilience isn’t just about physical safety — it’s also about the inner strength of people who live there. Resilience Centres are helping local authorities become a source of support for their residents, offering spaces of trust, recovery and emotional connection. We see a strong demand for these services, so we’re expanding the network to bring psychosocial support to more people across the country”, emphasized Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine.

Resilience Centres offer a combination of individual counselling, group sessions, peer support programmes and training opportunities. They are open to anyone experiencing stress or emotional exhaustion — most commonly, relatives of military personnel, internally displaced people, and others facing difficult life circumstances.

To establish a Centre, participating communities must provide an accessible, inclusive space that meets barrier-free design principles. To support this, the Ministry of Social Policy — together with its project partners — has developed a practical Guide for setting up Resilience Centres, which is freely available online.

The initiative is part of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”, launched by First Lady Olena Zelenska and implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
