Ilona Havronska, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine for European Integration, took part in the plenary session of the Ukrainian-Austrian Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Relations, held in Kyiv on 5 March.

During the meeting, the parties discussed economic cooperation, the participation of Austrian businesses in Ukraine’s recovery, and the development of bilateral partnership.

In her remarks, Ilona Havronska emphasized the importance of human capital for Ukraine’s recovery and thanked Austria for supporting Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to Russia’s aggression. She noted that nearly 93,000 Ukrainian citizens are currently staying in the Republic of Austria under temporary protection.

“For Ukraine, every Ukrainian matters, regardless of where they currently live. It is important for us to maintain strong ties with our citizens abroad while also creating conditions for their return. That is why we are interested in developing joint initiatives that combine Ukraine’s recovery with support for and development of human capital,” Ilona Havronska stressed.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted the possibility of establishing a Unity Hub in Vienna. According to her, such a center could serve as a space for maintaining connections between Ukrainians abroad and Ukraine, as well as providing access to verified information and consultations regarding opportunities for return.

In addition, Havronska emphasized the importance of projects that combine investments in infrastructure recovery with the development of local economic potential and the creation of opportunities for Ukrainians – particularly professionals – to return from abroad.
