Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine for European Integration Ilona Havronska and Minister for Migration of the Kingdom of Sweden Johan Forssell signed a declaration that confirms cooperation on the introduction of a Unity Hub for Ukrainians in Stockholm. The Hub is expected to begin operations in the summer of this year.
The declaration marks a key step in the joint efforts of the Governments of Ukraine and Sweden to create a meeting place where Ukrainians in Sweden can maintain ties with their homeland, obtain reliable information, and receive guidance on opportunities both in Sweden and Ukraine.
“We greatly appreciate the support of the Government of Sweden in advancing the establishment of the Unity Hub in Stockholm. Currently, more than 50,000 Ukrainians in Sweden are under temporary protection. It is crucial for us to stay connected with our citizens and provide them with reliable information that enables informed decisions about their future, including the possibility of return. The establishment of a Unity Hub in Stockholm is an important step in this direction,” said Ilona Havronska.
The Deputy Minister added that the Hub will also serve as a platform for strengthening social cohesion, facilitating information exchange, supporting community interaction, and providing practical assistance to Ukrainians in Sweden.
“Sweden’s support to Ukraine stretches beyond political, military and economic initiatives and also includes strong engagement for Ukrainians. Many Ukrainians have sought safety in Sweden, and I hope that this Unity Hub for Ukrainians in Sweden can serve as a central meeting point for them. I am proud that Sweden’s support to both Ukraine and Ukrainians who are here remains strong,” said Johan Forssell.
The decision to establish the Hub was adopted by the Government of Sweden following agreements reached during the visit of Minister Denys Uliutin in October 2025, as well as through the efforts of the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden.
The implementing partner for the project in Sweden is the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), which will operate in close coordination with the Agency of National Unity LLC acting under the authority of the Ukrainian Side and in close coordination with the Swedish Side.
