First Ukrainian Unity Hub in Europe to Open in Berlin

10/04/2026

Starting 15 April, the first Ukrainian Unity Hub in Europe will open in Berlin, Germany, offering consultations on return to Ukraine as well as educational and cultural activities.

According to the latest data from Eurostat, more than 4.3 million Ukrainians are currently under temporary protection in EU countries, with the largest number – around 1.2 million – residing in Germany. In this context, Unity Hubs for Ukrainians abroad are an important element of policy aimed at maintaining ties with Ukrainian citizens and supporting their return home.

“We appreciate the support of the EU and the Government of Germany in facilitating the opening and operation of the Unity Hub in Berlin. Germany became the first country with which Ukraine signed a Joint Declaration on the establishment of a Unity Hub. We want the Berlin Hub to become a space for maintaining our citizens’ connection with Ukraine, as well as a place where they can access reliable information to make informed decisions about returning home,” said Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Denys Uliutin.

International and Ukrainian organisations have already joined the work of the Hub, ensuring a wide range of services – from consultations on return and access to social services in Ukraine to educational, cultural and integration programmes and activities.

Visitors will also be able to receive consultations from the Pension Fund of Ukraine on pensions, housing subsidies, benefits, insurance contributions and related issues.

The Hub will also host regular activities for children and youth based on the Ukrainian scouting model, career guidance and digital skills training for both children and adults, as well as seminars and advisory sessions on education and countering disinformation.

The Unity Hub in Berlin will be administered by the Agence of National Unity LLC. Following its opening, the Hub will operate in a pilot mode, with updates available on its official Facebook page.

It should be recalled that the establishment of Unity Hubs for Ukrainians in EU Member States was supported by the Council of the European Union in its recommendations.
