On the eve of the opening of the first Unity Hub for Ukrainians in Europe, the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, Denys Ulyutin, together with the Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany, Alexander Dobrindt, visited Unity Hub Berlin and discussed preparations for its launch.
The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine for European Integration Ilona Havronska, as well as representatives of German federal authorities.
Denys Ulyutin emphasized that Germany currently hosts the largest number of Ukrainians under temporary protection—1.2 million people. In this context, the opening of the Unity Hub in Berlin is both timely and in high demand.
“We are grateful to Germany for its support and for the decision to provide premises for the Hub. It is important for us that this becomes a space of trust and connection with the state for Ukrainians abroad. Here, people can access verified information on education, employment, business, and public services. Ukraine continues to work and remains close to its citizens, wherever they are,” said Denys Ulyutin.
International and Ukrainian partners have already joined the Hub’s work, providing a wide range of services. In particular, the Pension Fund of Ukraine will offer consultations on pensions, housing subsidies, benefits, and social assistance; UNHCR will provide counseling for those planning to return to Ukraine; and the Ukrainian Advisory Center of ICMPD will offer practical support related to staying in Germany, including pre-consular assistance in cooperation with the Ukrainian consulate.
Open Platform e.V. will organize networking, educational, and discussion events for the Ukrainian community, while PLAST (Ukrainian scouting organization in Berlin) will conduct activities for children and youth. In addition, the State Enterprise “Document” Passport Service will provide consultations on document issuance services, and representatives of the Resilience Centers will inform visitors about services available in Ukraine. The Ukrainian-German center for education, culture, development, and leisure Adler e.V. will also contribute by developing partnerships and organizing public events.
The location will also host a Tech IT Hub, a platform showcasing Ukraine’s IT industry, modern technologies, educational opportunities, and employment prospects. This component will be supported by Diia City Union and the Kharkiv IT Cluster.
The Minister also noted that the development of the Unity Network will be guided by the needs of Ukrainians abroad. If necessary, the possibility of opening additional hubs in Germany in cooperation with partners will be considered.
He added that following the launch of the Hub in Berlin, Ukraine, together with partner governments, plans to open similar centers in the Czech Republic and Sweden.
The Unity Hub in Berlin will be open to visitors starting from April 15. It will operate in a test mode from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 20:00. Updates on the Center’s activities will be available on its official Facebook page.
