The state provides comprehensive support to children returning to Ukraine-controlled territory after deportation, forced displacement, or from temporarily occupied territories. This week, upon submission by the Ministry of Social Policy, the Government introduced one-time assistance for a child who returned to government-controlled territory after deportation, forced displacement, or from temporarily occupied territories. The amount of 50 thousand hryvnias ("resettlement" assistance) will enable parents or other legal guardians to create proper conditions for the child's reintegration and adaptation in Ukraine.
To receive the assistance, the child's legal guardian must apply to the State Service of Ukraine for Children. This assistance will not be counted when calculating the family's average monthly total income for determining eligibility for all types of state social assistance and housing subsidies.
The Ministry of Social Policy reminds that an individual plan is developed for each returning child. It covers not only their journey home but also a range of services necessary for successful reintegration in Ukraine. Post-return support is tailored to each child's needs. The assistance plan includes three packages: short-term, medium-term, and long-term. Depending on needs, the child receives social, medical, psychological, rehabilitation, and legal services. If the child has no family, they are placed in family-based care. The child's family also receives necessary support.
