Unity Hub for Ukrainians Opens in Stockholm with Support of the Swedish Government
15/06/2026
On 15 June, the official opening of the Unity Hub for Ukrainians took place in Stockholm, Sweden. The event brought together Deputy Ministers of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Ilona Havronska and Tetiana Kirienko, Minister for Migration of Sweden Johan Forssell, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Sweden Svitlana Zalishchuk, representatives of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), and members of the Ukrainian community in Sweden.
In her opening remarks, Ilona Havronska noted that approximately 4.3 million Ukrainians are currently under temporary protection in EU countries, of whom over 45,000 are in Sweden. In this context, the opening of Unity Hubs is a much-needed step to help Ukrainian citizens abroad maintain ties with Ukraine and access reliable information to make informed decisions about their future.
"We are grateful to the Swedish Government for its unwavering support of Ukraine and our people. Today, tens of thousands of Ukrainians in Sweden are studying, working, and raising children, while remaining an integral part of Ukraine. The Unity Hub in Stockholm is designed to help them maintain this connection, access reliable information, support, and consultations for planning their future, including the possibility of returning to Ukraine," said Ilona Havronska.
At Unity Hub Stockholm, opened with the support of the Swedish Government, Ukrainians will be able to receive informational consultations on temporary protection status, residence and integration in Sweden, employment matters, as well as available support for those considering return to Ukraine.
In addition to practical support, the Hub will serve as a venue for cultural, educational, and community events aimed at strengthening social cohesion among Ukrainians and supporting their connection with Ukraine.
"Sweden’s support to Ukraine is not only about political, military and economic support. It’s also about supporting the Ukrainian people in Sweden. The new Unity Hub will be an important meeting place for all Ukrainians who have found refuge in our country", said Johan Forssell.
“The experience of Ukrainian displacement has demonstrated how essential it is to act in a swift and pragmatic manner, and to develop policy responses in line with the challenges at hand. It also shows that it is crucial to keep the people at the centre of all related efforts – their specific situations and individual needs, but also their potentials, aspirations, and hopes in rebuilding their lives and re-shaping their future,” added Susan Raab, Director General of ICMPD.
Following the official opening, the Hub will begin accepting appointment requests. Unity Hub Stockholm will open its doors to visitors on 22 June 2026, operating in pilot mode Monday through Friday, 10:00–17:00, with visits by prior appointment only.
Appointments can be requested by email at UH_SE@icmpd.org. Upon receiving a request, the Hub team will contact the applicant to schedule an appointment and provide further information as needed.
The implementing partner for the Unity Hub Stockholm project is the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), which will work in close coordination with LLC "Agency for National Unity" and in cooperation with the Swedish and Ukrainian sides.
For reference, the first Unity Hub for Ukrainians in Europe opened in Berlin on 15 April 2026. Since its opening, the Hub has served over 2,000 visitors.
