Military Psychologists Gain New Skills: Training Program Launched at Resilience Center
04/03/2025
A Resilience Center in Rivne city, operated by the NGO “Center for Integration,” has become the first of its kind to launch a new training program specifically for military psychologists. In partnership with the Personnel Psychological Support Unit of Operational Command “West,” the Center gathered more than 40 specialists for a practical training course.
Participants practiced stabilization techniques, stress relief strategies, and methods of nonviolent communication — all tools they will apply in their work with military personnel. The training also covered how traumatic experiences affect mental health, which self-regulation techniques are most effective, and how to establish communication under high-stress conditions.
“High-quality psychological support for our defenders is an essential part of social services. The better trained the specialists, the more effectively they can help military personnel cope with stress and reintegrate into civilian life. Resilience Centers have become an important platform for this kind of training, and we hope other Resilience Centers will follow this initiative,” said Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Ulyana Tokarieva.
The training aims to strengthen the professional capacity of military psychologists by equipping them with practical tools to support individuals under psychological strain.
“We see a huge demand for high-quality psychological support among military personnel. It’s crucial that the professionals working with them have access to the best modern techniques. Our Resilience Center is open to collaboration, and we are ready to share our experience with other communities looking to support our defenders,” emphasized Olena Khomych, Social Manager of the Rivne Resilience Center.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine as part of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
