The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine to simplify service members and veterans’ access to sports prostheses.

Previously, veterans had to prove their participation in competitions included in official national or regional competition calendars to receive a sports prosthesis. It was necessary to have numerous certificates and approvals from ministries, sports federations or local authorities. The new resolution eliminates these bureaucratic requirements.

From now on, veterans can receive a sports prosthesis without additional documentation, whether for competitions, for training, or for personal rehabilitation. This decision has several key outcomes:

  • reduces bureaucratic barriers;
  • ensures equal access to sports prosthetics for all veterans;
  • enhances rehabilitation and social impact;
  • minimizes corruption risks;
“It is essential that sport and physical activity be accessible to every veteran. It is not a privilege for a few, but a part of the rehabilitation system that helps to recover not only physical fitness but also inner strength. We want every soldier with limb loss to have a real chance to return to an active life without barriers and lengthy red tape,” emphasized Denys Uliutin, the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine.

This decision is an important step in supporting veterans and wounded service members in their physical and psychological rehabilitation.
