On September 26, the Forum dedicated to building a barrier-free society was held in Kyiv. The Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, Inna Solodka participated in the event.

The forum brought together representatives of the Government, international organizations, experts, and the public to discuss the legislative and practical steps for creating equal opportunities for every citizen.

The discussion focused on the issues of inclusion, gender equality, veteran integration into civilian life and the creation of a safe working environment in public service.

Inna Solodka emphasized that the issue of barrier-free accessibility is especially important during the war.

“Barrier-free is not only about accessibility. It is about a space of opportunities for everyone,” she said.

The Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine shared her experience of visiting regions. During the visits, the Ministry of Social Policy, Family of Ukraine analyzes how social services are provided in practice.

“The team of the Ministry regularly goes on business trips to see how social services are really delivered locally. The real meetings are the most precious for me. Every time I discover incredibly powerful people who inspire me,” emphasized Inna Solodka.

She also shared a personal story from the visit to a Prosthetics Center: it was a meeting with a little girl who impressed her with strength and light. This moment became an example of how barrier-free accessibility is important for every Ukrainian in daily life.

According to Inna Solodka, a formation of the barrier-free environment is not only an issue of infrastructure or legal rules, but first of all it is an issue of humanity, support and trust that must be ensured by the state.
