In Ukraine, the purchase of housing for large foster families continues: in 2025, the Ministry of Social Policy allocated 833 million hryvnias

The state supports families who take in children without parental care. Large foster families (family-type children's homes) are provided with housing. For such housing in 2025, the Ministry of Social Policy allocated 833 million hryvnias from the state budget subvention. Currently, communities are in the process of purchasing houses.

"Housing for large foster families is not just a basic necessity, it is an important factor in increasing the number of children who live in the warmth of a family. That is why the Ministry of Social Policy directs subventions to local budgets for the purchase of comfortable houses with sufficient space. By 2029, it is planned to provide housing for over 700 such families," said Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy.

The family of Natalia Pyroh is one of those celebrating a housewarming this year. Ms. Natalia and her husband created a large foster family many years ago, inspired by the experience of others. The first children they took in already have their own families, and some even have their own children. However, the full-scale invasion by Russia forced the family to leave their home in Dnipropetrovsk region. They settled in Zakarpattia, where the family recently received a house funded by the state budget in the Chynadiieve community.

The 2025 subvention funds ensure the purchase of housing for over 120 large foster families in various regions of the country. About half of them are newly established. The rest, like the Pyroh family, were forced to save children from the war.
