The memorandum was signed by Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Volodymyr Vasylenko and Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Athletes and Sector Workers Serhiy Bizov.
"While defending Ukraine, our defenders risk what is most precious – their lives and health. We must do everything possible to ensure that every servicemember, veteran, and family members of defenders have real opportunities for a dignified life. The Ministry of Social Policy is working to make the social protection system as effective and humane as possible, and we sincerely thank our partners for their willingness to collaborate in this direction," noted Volodymyr Vasylenko.
"This Memorandum reinforces our comprehensive commitment to defenders and will ensure a broader range of support for veterans and their families in the field of social protection. In partnership with the Ministry, we will implement concrete, realistic steps toward improving the well-being of those who have sacrificed their health and best years in the war for Ukraine. Mutual exchange of experience will allow us to better provide veterans with the necessary resources, opportunities, and recognition they deserve, including at the legislative level," emphasized Serhiy Bizov.
Key areas of cooperation under the Memorandum include:
- analyzing the existing social protection system for Ukraine's defenders and their families, including research on international best practices;
- conducting awareness campaigns about social guarantees and available social services;
- implementing projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening social protection for these population groups.
The cooperation also involves joint efforts in developing legislative amendments regarding social protection for servicemembers, war veterans, combatants, and their family members.
