The Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), held a public event titled "A Child’s Space for Adults and Youth."
The event was attended by EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Munir Mammadzade, and Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych.
Katarina Mathernova was presented with a symbolic "time capsule" containing a printed copy of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and letters written by children for future generations. It will be opened after Ukraine becomes a member of the EU.
"I thank the European Union, UNICEF, and all partners who support Ukrainian children and help create a safe and dignified environment for them. This is exactly what we work for every day," said Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych.
The event marked the beginning of the summer school holidays and demonstrated collective efforts to protect the rights of Ukrainian children, particularly their right to safety, education, and a secure and prosperous future.
In addition to the handover of the time capsule, the event included workshops for children, performances, interactive zones, and a "Garden Talks" dialogue moderated by children, who asked questions to Katarina Mathernova and Oksana Zholnovych.
