24/11/2025

Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, Denys Uliutin arrived in New York to participate in the high-level plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly to assess the implementation of the United Nations Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings. He began his working visit by meeting with the Ukrainian community.

The Minister emphasized that Ukrainian citizens abroad represent a powerful voice of our nation on the global stage, including in countering Russian propaganda.

The event focused on the return of Ukrainians who had been forced to leave their homes as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

"We clearly understand that the active return of our citizens will be possible only once the security situation stabilizes. However, the country must be prepared for this, and the necessary measures are already being developed at the state level. In particular, the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, in cooperation with international partners, is establishing a network of Centers for Ukrainian Unity abroad, where psychosocial, educational, and cultural services will be provided, along with legal consultations and guidance on returning home. The first such centers will open in Spain, the Czech Republic, and Germany," noted Denys Uliutin.

The Ministry is also developing a unified national portal to support the return process. It will provide information on available opportunities in local communities related to employment, education, housing, and social services, as well as step-by-step guidance to ensure that returning home is as seamless as possible.

Denys Uliutin also noted that Ukraine already operates a network of Resilience Centers providing psychosocial support, as well as the humanitarian initiative for internally displaced persons “Shelter. Work.” This platform is designed to help internally displaced people find employment and housing, enabling them to fully integrate into new communities and become economically active members of society.

Efforts to support Ukrainians worldwide continue.
